Founder’s Award

The Founder's Award is given to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to forest entomology in the western North America. The award recognizes significant contributions in pest management, extension-consultation, research, and teaching.

Guidelines for this award were established at the 1991 work conference. The award will be given each year to one qualified nominee or exceptional team/partnership. An award will not be given in years when NAFIWC is held or there are no qualified nominees. Nominee(s) will remain eligible for consideration for 3 years after submission of the nomination. In this way, if several qualified individuals are nominated in any given year, the nominee(s) not selected in that particular year will remain eligible for 2 subsequent years. Previously submitted nominations may be updated in subsequent years.

Award recipient presents a Founder’s Award address at the next scheduled WFIWC meeting, typically the night of the banquet. The recipient’s registration fee for that meeting will be waived and the WFIWC will provide one night of lodging at that meeting.
