Founder’s Award

The selection of the 2020 Founder's Award recipient was an extremely difficult decision. After much deliberation and thoughtful discussion, the Founder’s Award Committee has the great pleasure of announcing the posthumous selection of Steve Seybold as the 2020 recipient.

Steve’s contributions to WFIWC and the forest entomology community as a whole are without question at the highest level and he is a most worthy recipient of this award. The Founder’s Award address will be presented by those that knew him best in Steve’s honor at the 2022 WFIWC meeting.

Memorial Scholarship Award

Michael Howe, a PhD candidate, working with Dr. Ken Raffa at the University of Wisconsin – Madison has been selected as the 2020 award recipient.

Michael’s PhD research is focused on whitebark pine susceptibility to bark beetles. He has a BA degree in Biology from Gustavus Adolphus College and a MS degree in Entomology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. His MS thesis involved studies of the role of bacteria in pine engraver host colonization. Michael will be invited to speak at the next WFIWC to be held in 2022.
